Privacy Policy
WhatsApp Blur Pro (“the extension”) is a browser extension that visually blurs sensitive content on web.whatsapp.com so it can’t be read over your shoulder in public spaces. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.
1. Data we collect
None.
The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any user data. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no external servers, and no tracking of any kind.
2. Data stored on your device
The extension stores a single settings object in chrome.storage.local containing only your own toggle preferences:
- Master on/off switch
- Per-feature blur toggles (chat list previews, contact names, avatars, open-chat messages, media preview, media gallery, text input)
- Behavior options (unblur while hovering the app, instant reveal without fade)
This data:
- Lives only in your browser’s local extension storage
- Never leaves your device
- Is readable only by this extension
- Is removed when you uninstall the extension
3. Message content, contacts, and media
The extension never reads, copies, intercepts, or transmits the contents of your WhatsApp messages, contacts, profile pictures, media, or any other page content. Blurring is implemented entirely in CSS — the extension tags existing DOM elements with CSS classes so the browser renders them blurred. No content is ever accessed programmatically.
4. Permissions explained

5. Third parties
The extension does not use third-party services, SDKs, trackers, or analytics. Nothing about your usage is sent anywhere.
6. Children's privacy
The extension does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. No data is collected.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as necessary to comply with regulations or reflect product changes. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revision date.
